Discomforts in the academy: from ‘academic burnout’ to collective mobilisation

As part of a set interventions on discomfort feminism, this article addresses how the politics informs boundary work in neoliberalized academic workplace Switzerland. Departing from authors’ engagements series workshops new forms stress and pressure academia effects deteriorating conditions labor at their department, explores multiple unevenly distributed emotions generated by through workshops. We discuss as an affective orienting device that betrays normative social space crossing personal-professional workplace. This potentials pitfalls ‘staying with’ discomfort, rather than attempting to return within comfort zone. argue such can inform change reworking boundaries helping mobilize different collectivities, ones based care shared vulnerability.
